Rahcel Haircut ‘Reserve’ EP Launch @ Loop

Rachel Haircut consists of James Hewson and Hayden Quinn, two very talented fellas from Melbourne. These two have a musically historic flavour that spans back to when they met in 1998.

How did you two meet?

“James and I met when we were very young, probably about 10 or 11. James was the new kid at school and pretty much the only dude I had met who had an interest in music, so we bonded over that and pretty much spent all our time together trying to figure out how we could MAKE music.”

Beverage of choice whilst listening to your beats?

“Double cup of lean for our witch-house moments and Red bull for our rave moments.”

I was asked several times whether they were selling copies of their EP after the gig!

Their style, well, this is what makes it so interesting, it touches on new age garage to 90’s hiphop classics to to 70’s synth, they merge their beats seamlessly, bringing a powerful nostalgia with a squeeze of lemon on the rocks. The crowd at Loop had energy and high anticipation to witness the new ‘Reserve’ EP live, I was asked several times whether they were selling copies of their EP after the gig! This sort of support and appreciation for good music is so good to still see happening around the place.

The EP itself is like a a breath of fresh 90’s rave style synth music or “witch-house”, with female vocals falling in and out thoughout. It will successfully bring you back to several phases of musical radness, with a fresh interpretation.
